How does Gatepay work?
How does Gatepay work?
Section titled “How does Gatepay work?”Gatepay is built on the X402 protocol, an open standard for payment-gated HTTP resources.
X402 Protocol
Section titled “X402 Protocol”- X402 extends HTTP with native payment requirements (think: HTTP 402 Payment Required).
- When a user accesses a Gatepay link, the server responds with payment requirements.
- The client pays using supported crypto assets and receives access upon confirmation.
Facilitators
Section titled “Facilitators”- Facilitators are Gatepay-managed services that handle payment verification, resource delivery, and webhook execution.
- They abstract blockchain complexity and ensure secure, reliable payment flows.
Account Funding
Section titled “Account Funding”- Each Gatepay user has an account for managing links, payments, and API tokens.
- Payments are sent directly to your wallet or a designated address.
- Gatepay never holds your funds—payments are non-custodial.
Payment Flow
Section titled “Payment Flow”- User visits a payment link.
- Gatepay returns payment requirements (network, asset, amount, address).
- User pays via wallet or integrated UI.
- Gatepay verifies payment and grants access.
